I've got TONS of pictures I'm wading through (over 1400) from our trip up to the Portland area, so I've decided, for sanity's sake, to try one post a day (or every two days) and just go through one event of pictures at a time. Save myself some serious hair-pulling. :)
This first set of pictures was from our first two nights of camping on our drive up to Oregon. Yes, we drove. Yes, we camped. We've tried this trip many ways -- an overnighter, two days with a stay in a hotel, flying (which is always the best way if you have the cash) -- so this time we thought we'd take it at a snail's pace and camp two nights in Stockton, CA, first and then two nights in Medford, OR, of which I didn't get any pictures. I think I just wanted to get there by that point.
This picture is classic (abv). It's what we were doing every half hour to hour along the way, which added an additional two hours to our trip each day. Yeah, what were we thinking doing this with a potty-training toddler? Can I just say that he did not have even one accident on our trip?!? Pretty good, huh?
Still working on staying dry at night, but overall, this kid's got it down!
Funny thing is, though, he would say, "I hafta go poddy, Mama," so we'd pull over, and half the time he didn't go. It was so fun for him just to get out of the car every and look around every so often. We caught on quick.
This is the KOA in Stockton, replete with tons of kid-favorable grounds, including two swimming pools (one which has an amazing slide), a blow-up trampoline, and a playground for little ones. It was NICE, and as you can see below, we had it pretty much to ourselves.
Caleb was a little small for it. He got crunched a few times under arms and legs of the bigger kiddos. I wouldn't let him go on when it got overcrowded. He didn't like that, not one little bit.
Essie got hives, we think from the sunblock. When we finally got her some Aveeno sunblock, her skin cleared up. She also got hives on the way down, though, and we didn't use any sunblock on her. Could it have been the sleeping bag? I think I washed all of them first in skin-sensitive detergent. I dunno. She's got sensitive skin. That, we know.
Abby took this one (abv). Here we are in all our non-photoshopped camping glory.
Amazing pool. Amazing.
