Valentine's Picnic

Daddy and Caleb went to a doctor's appointment on V-day, so the girls and I took a picnic lunch and walked to the park.

Not very many pictures because I got into a conversation with a gentleman, a conversation that turned into a chance to share my faith. Those are always the best ones. All in all it was a fun little Valentine's Day picnic. :)

A Hands-On Kinda Day

These paint-by-numbers are from Grandma C. There is no final product because these were just the practice sheets, and the girls didn't even finish these. They enjoyed the little that they completed.

Then they finished off the painting with a little Play-Doh time. Not *my* favorite time. :)

Sketching with Grandpa

Grandpa Carmichael has a real gift for drawing. He was an architect by trade, and he at one time, I hear, almost went to work sketching for Disney, so whenever he's here, we always get him spending special time with his grandkids, drawing. Drawing is another thing Abby absolutely loves to do.

Molasses Cookies

Our house-cleaner Enedina bought us some sorghum molasses for Christmas, so I called my mother-in-law to find out how we could use it, and she suggested making molasses cookies (of course!). So when they came for a visit at Caleb's 2nd birthday, I saved it for a special "Grandma and the girls" baking event. The girls love to cook, especially Abby.
It was a lot of fun.

The fingers are always the best part.
Yum!

Cranberry-orange Scones

I've been watching more cooking shows lately, and when Abby (who loves to sit and watch them with me) and I caught these cranberry-orange scones on Barefoot Contessa, she begged me to make them, so we did, and they are to DIE for. So good.

Fun with Friends

I just love it when one friend comes over, and the whole dynamic of everything is changed in an instant.

This is one of Abby's good school friends. She's adorable, isn't she?
