My in-laws' block had a 4th of July block BBQ, and let me tell you, it was a blast. We enjoyed good food, fellowship, and fireworks. And the kids even put on a little bike parade to parody the parade we saw earlier in the day. They loooved that. It's the small things that mean so much to kids. :)
Okay. Eric is responsible for taking the above picture. Goofiness. :)
My niece Riley
They even had board games. How clever!
I love how proud Abby looks in these pictures. I think she loved the parade the most. At 6 everything in her little life should reflect what grown-ups do. She wants to be grown up...and NOW! :)
Caleb's mode of transportation in the parade -- the scooter. Since he can't quite ride a trike yet, he gets around on this thing, and he's really quite good at it. He gets some serious speed on it. Even goes down driveways on it. Not bad.
This is his, "Mama, listen to me, I have something important to tell you" face. :)
Really a great little neighborhood fireworks show.
The kids got to light sparklers. For the wee-ones, they had these plastic light-up toys. Very thoughtful. Really a great way to finish off a great day. And I was blessed to meet one neighbor,
Taunya Richards, who has become a quick friend. She's a fellow blogger and home-schooling mom. We even met for a table chat later during our vacation. Fun.
