Abby's Imagination

This kid is full of imagination.
She set up her nightstand with this little "wedding."
I thought it was cute enough for a picture.

Here's a couple funny quotes from her lately:

Abby:
[Eating a drumstick] Mom, does meat grow?
Me: You mean like a plant? No. We get meat from animals.
Abby: [Looking at drumstick] I'm sorry for eating you, whatever you are.
----
Abby: [Looking a bit like a genie with her wet hair up in a towel] I'm an old man who doesn't grant wishes.
Me: [Trying hard not to laugh] You're an old man who doesn't grant wishes?
Abby: Mmm-hmm, I'm an old man who doesn't grant wishes. I may look like I grant wishes, but I don't.

Nothing like a big box...

My mom asked the workers who were installing a new A/C unit next door if we could have the box. It's been voted the toy of the week around here. :-)
The one above is classic. It looks like something out of a horror movie.
Above: All three kids try to put their faces in the window.

Caleb and Essie

Isn't he cute?

Caleb and Abby

As you can see above, he had had enough of "sharing" the limelight. :)

Seedlings

Eric taught a mini-lesson on growing plants from seeds yesterday.
The girls both got to help plant them
and now get to help water.
There's nothing quite like waiting expectantly for new life.

Trees in Early Spring

I don't know why I am so romanticized
by our Chinese Elm Trees in early spring.
The freckling of petal-like green clusters
against a crystal blue horizon . . .
The dance of cascading branches in the soft breeze,
like hair falling over a woman's shoulder . . .
These pictures do no justice to what they look like up close.
Up close they will take your breath away.
They will force you to worship the One who made them.

I see the handiwork of Him in these early seedpods.

Like being instantly reborn,
these branches are new every spring,
as though they were budding for the very first time.

So intriquing and refreshing and inspiring . . .

So unlike me as I age, yet so like Him . . .
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
His mercies never come to an end.
They are new every morning.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Oh Lord."

How I love these little bugs.

Yes, they DO drive me buggers sometimes,
but oh, how I love them so.

Real Live Dolly

It'd be funny if I said the girls put him up to it,
but even funnier is the fact that he did it all of his own accord.

Cousin Visit Part 2

Erin and the boys came up again.
This time my aunt and uncle came with them.
It was a time of wild fun for everyone!
Mornings on the couch...watching cartoons

Park Play
We failed to get pictures of the girls.
Our arms were FULL. ;)

Uncle Bill reads to the kiddos.

Fun in the jumphouse

And of course, her boys educated my girls on the galactically important Star Wars.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!!

Aunt Conni reads more of -- guess! -- Star Wars. :)
And here Jack "reads" more of -- what else? -- Star Wars!!! :)
