Happy Birthday, Uncle Bret!

YOU!

This morning, we were having a discussion about what people eat, and Papa looked at Essie and asked her,

Papa: Essie, what does Caleb eat?

Essie: [mumbling something we couldn't make out]

Me: What does Caleb eat?

Essie: [Looking at Papa] Papa eats corn.

Me: Yes, but what does Caleb eat?

Essie: [Thinking about this for a second, then turning to me]...YOU!

Needing a Cave

On the way to church Sunday morning, Essie was mumbling something, and I couldn't quite figure it out. We later deciphered she was asking for a shade because the sun was in her eyes.

Essie: I need a cave [or this is what it sounded like she said].

Mommy: You need a what?

Essie: I need a cave.

Mommy: I'm sorry. I still didn't understand. What do you need, Essie?

Abby: She said she needs a cave.

Mommy: A cave? [Trying to interpret what she means by cave] What's a cave?

Abby: [Very matter-of-factly] It's a place where bears live.

Like, "Duh, Mom!" :)

Oops!

Oops, I've been amiss, neglecting to add some photos to the blog that I took awhile back of Caleb with some of my extended family members. In all the busyness, I've forgotten what pictures I've included and with whom. So these pictures are over a month old, but better late than never. :)

Little Bear

So far our little bear is such a good little man.
He's just beginning to give us smiles...still too early for photo ops, but soon...
He's content most of the time, and he loves to be held.
He's now seven weeks old, and he's been sleeping through the night for three weeks already (10:00-ish to 5:30-ish)...gotta love that!

This is the closest I could get to a smile for the camera.
Sorry for the angle. It was the best I could do with one hand, since I was holding him with my other one.
