Home-schooling

Statue of Liberty (above)
We're three-quarters or more done with our year,
and it's been challenging, but awesome.
Abby can read several hundred words by sounding them out,
plus 30 or more sight words.
She's reading pretty well (above average) for a Kindergartener.
Her math skills are great.
She's great at patterns and puzzles (no wonder),
and she can count to 100.
She's grasping some pretty heavy science concepts like rotation of the earth, everything being made up of molecules and atoms, and the three states of matter.
In social studies, she's learning about different people and cultures all around the world as well as the way things were long ago versus now.
She loves to be read to; right now we are making our way through Little House on the Prarie and Milly Molly Mandy, and she's loving every minute of our readings.
Here she is doing her own unprompted freewriting.
She's already written two full books, complete with illustrations, all on her own, not as a part of any home-school assignment.
We're pretty proud of her.
